Veryant isCOBOL is Compatible with Windows 7
Extends COBOL portability at no extra cost; enables affordable path forward for modern COBOL applications

Compatible with Windows 7 June 14, 2010 - Veryant, the COBOL and Java technology innovator, today said that isCOBOL 2010 Release 1 is "Compatible with Windows 7," having met all of Microsoft Corp.'s technical requirements for compatibility and reliability.

The "Compatible with Windows 7" logo means Veryant's isCOBOL Runtime Environment and isCOBOL Integrated Development Environment (IDE) software have met Microsoft's testing requirements for compatibility with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7, passing tests Microsoft designed with regards to installation, performance, reliability, and security. Compatible with Windows 7 products give users added assurance that products will install and run reliably with Windows 7.

Under Veryant's ‘buy once, run anywhere’ approach, there is no penalty or additional fee for changing platforms, so existing customers can immediately incorporate Windows 7-based systems into COBOL application development and distribution plans. New Veryant customers looking for an alternative, modern COBOL toolset are reassured that their COBOL applications will run properly on this popular Microsoft platform, at a lower price point than other COBOL options.

"isCOBOL users enjoy a wealth of environments in which to develop and deploy," said Alfredo Iglesias, vice president of business development at Veryant. "Veryant is committed to helping customers simplify application distribution and keep their COBOL-based applications relevant in today's evolving world of computing requirements."

For Veryant's ISV customers, applications developed with isCOBOL can be offered for Windows 7 environments. This can help ISVs be more competitive than software solutions developed using other COBOL software, and facilitate their penetration of the widespread Windows 7 market.

The Java-enabled portability of the products in isCOBOL and customer applications is enhanced by the portability of the isCOBOL license: "buy once, compile, and run anywhere." The same flexibility is delivered with the Eclipse-based isCOBOL IDE. Users can leverage one development environment across multiple platforms and switch between development projects when integrating COBOL with programming languages such as Java.
