Veryant Executive to Speak on COBOL Modernization
COBOL iX Days Conference | Munich, Germany | November 24-25

November 2, 2009 - Veryant, the COBOL and Java technology innovator, will be a featured presenter at the COBOL iX Days Conference in Munich, Germany on November 24 - 25.

Florian Delonge, EMEA Business Development Director for Veryant, will speak on “Bridging the COBOL to Java Divide”. He will present case studies that demonstrate how organizations with COBOL assets have leveraged existing skills and resources to natively enable Java programs to access COBOL and vice-versa without proprietary middleware or time-consuming, risky reengineering. Delonge will speak about how COBOL application and data investments can be made easily accessible to SOA, Software as a Service (SaaS) and other initiatives without sacrificing functionality, retraining staff, or additional complexity.

Delonge, along with the rest of the Veryant staff, are experts in COBOL maintenance and modernization. The company’s isCOBOL Application Platform Suite (APS) blends the optimized, business-oriented nature of COBOL with the openness, portability, and power of the Java platform. This enhances productivity and eases integration between legacy and new application environments. The isCOBOL APS Runtime Environment is 100 percent Java, so COBOL applications can be deployed across multiple platforms using a single code base.

Because existing COBOL code represents a major investment for many companies, it is important, but increasingly challenging to exploit these assets. In the presentation, Delonge will discuss how the future lies in open systems, graphical interfaces, relational database access, Web 2.0 front ends, and SOA. He will show how to use the COBOL modernization solution, isCOBOL APS, to protect vital COBOL assets and gain modern efficiencies.

In addition to presenting, Veryant will also be an exhibitor at the COBOL iX Days Conference. isCOBOL experts will be available during the event for technical product demonstrations and discussions.
